Reasoning About Data-Parallel Array Assignment

Abstract

Three representations of data-parallel array assignment-generalized array assignment, FORTRAN 90 array assignment and HPF array assignment-are compared by deriving their axiomatic inference rules. The goals are (i) to identify shortcomings of representations of data-parallel array assignment in existing programming languages and suggest improvements and (ii) to clarify the semantics of particular formulations of array assignment
