Abstract
A new approach for detection of corner points in planar curves is presented in this paper. Detection of corner point is based on calculation of distances from the straight line joining two contour points on two sides of that corner. The presented algorithm is simple to implement, efficient and robust to noise. It performs well on noisy shapes and leads to various applications. Results of this algorithm are compared with some commonly referred corner detectors.
