Abstract

A parallel implementation for direct and large-eddy simulation of turbulent flow ( PARDISTUF) is described. The code is based on the three-dimensional incompressible Navier-Stokes equation. Benchmark results on a set of European supercomputers under the message-passing platform MPI are presented. Using this programme on a 48 node IBM-SP2 with a domain resolution of 4803 grid cells, the inertial subrange of the kinetic energy spectrum of homogeneous turbulence in a sheared and stratified fluid could be resolved over three wavenumber decades.
