An Effective Location Management Strategy for Cellular Mobile Networks

  • Conference paper

Part of the book series: Lecture Notes in Computer Science ((LNTCS,volume 3480))

Abstract

Reducing the location update cost has been a critical research issue since the location update process requires heavy signaling traffics. This paper proposes an effective location management strategy to reduce the location update cost in cellular mobile networks. The paper also develops analytical models to evaluate the performance of the proposed strategy as well as conventional schemes in various situations. The results of the evaluation show that the proposed strategy reduces the location update cost significantly.
