Abstract

In this paper, we propose an aggregation scheme, which is called Combine Early and Go Together (CEGT), to reduce the energy cost to transmit sensor data from sources to the sink. In the CEGT, the aggregation point is chosen in such a way that the sum of distances from source nodes to the sink via the aggregation point measured in the number of hops is minimized. Unlike most aggregation schemes, CEGT does not need to construct a tree from each source node to the sink. Simulation results show that our scheme can prolong the network life time and improve the path durability than the conventional schemes such as the gradient path and the shortest path schemes.
