Abstract

A geometric object is an abstraction of reality and many of its properties can be studied without direct reference to the absolute coordinates of its elements. We have developed a coding method that uses this fact to simplify the manipulation of vectorized n-dimensional geometric schemes and used it to reduce those manipulations to a small set of basic operations. We have built a subroutine package implementing these operations that works on a workspace extracted from a very simple data base. A pilot project is described in which this package is used in the management of map information for a geometrical data base.
