Abstract
Compressed video bitstream is sensitive to channel errors and may degrade the reconstructed images severely even the bit error rate is small. For combating the impact of errors, several techniques have been developed to protect the bitstream. One approach is adding some protection codes at the encoder, or combining the forward error correction to enhance the robustness of the highly compressed bitstream. Another approach aims at error concealment at the decoder, include to detect error positions and to conceal them using the spatial or temporal correlation. In this paper, we focus on the research of error concealment at the decoder. We propose motion vector based error concealment algorithms to recover the displacement per pixel according to the relation of neighboring motion vectors. We can estimate more accurate displacement per pixel by using the tendency of motion vectors; therefore, the damaged images can be reconstructed more acceptable by human eyes.
