Abstract

This paper describes a System on Chip (SoC) implementation of a complete node for the European Home Systems specifications (EHS). The Power Line medium of EHS provides a narrow band network for home appliances. This SoC node, the EHS on a Chip (EHSoC), includes an 8051 microcontroller as Logic Link Control unit (LLC), a Medium Access Controller (MAC) and a Modem circuit for the EHS Power Line medium specifications. The MAC circuit included in EHSoC reduces the LLC computational load.
