Abstract

With the maturity in mobile communication, the new mobile communication systems are shaped up gradually especially for the 3rd Generation. The next generation mobile communication, the 4th Generation wireless System, will be converged on Internet Protocol like wired environment. Although the traffic is not only voice, how the voice over IP in wireless environment can be accepted satisfactory, is still a very important issue. Besides the problems of VoIP in wired line, there are a lot of difficult issues and problems must be considered and solved. In this paper, three different VoIP schemes are simulated using OPNET for wireless LAN. From the results, the G723.1 is considered to be the most appropriate one for wireless environments.
