Abstract
This paper introduces a method for modelling Public Key Infrastructures (PKIs). This method is referred to as 3PPM Method (Three Part PKI Model Method). The resulting models are referred to as 3PPMs. 3PPMs are based on the Unified Modelling Language (UML). The 3PPM Method can be used in an early stage of PKI setup. It provides for an easy way to obtain a model that can be used as a basis for further planning, training and documentation. The 3PPM method has already been used in practice by the author of this document.
