Abstract

In this position paper, the author identifies a research direction currently being taken concerning communications among computer agents (not necessarily intelligent agents). Initial efforts are focused on miscommunication — that is how two independent programs can fail to communicate accurately based on the individual interpretations of the data exchanged between them.
