Abstract

This work describes two of the interpretation modules in the multilevel semantic architecture of the AIFresco system: quantifier scopings resolution and interpretation of a meaning representation form. The paper overviews the main ideas of the techniques followed in the implementation of such modules. In particular for the scopings resolution a set of heuristic rules borrowed from linguistic analysis is given in order to cut the excessive number of readings proposed by some known mechanisms for scopings generation (Cooper Storage, Hobbs-Shieber algorithm). As far as interpretation is concerned, a semantics for logical operators, including natural quantifiers, in a meaning representation language is explained in full detail.
