Abstract

This paper describes the methodology for developing a Concept Dictionary. The Concept Dictionary is to be a neutral dictionary for semantic processing of natural languages available for various application systems, and consists of: (a) concept descriptions, and (b) a concept classification. The descriptions and classification have been obtained and revised based on the results of an analysis of sentences in the EDR corpus and outputs from various natural language processing systems. A method for customizing the Concept Dictionary is also discussed.
