Abstract

We implemented a methodology for building a three-dimensional geometric model of the cerebral vessel tree from a pair of biplane DSAs (digital subtraction angiograms). The 3-D spatial representation of blood vessels supplies physicans the 3-D information (shape and relative position) to assess the severity and time course of diseases for diagnosis and treatment planning, and serve as a basis tor further research of the organ and enhances medical diagnosis of angiograms in the optimal planning of bypass surgery. The image data of cerebral vessels are an image pair taken by the DSA machine. There are 15 degrees difference between the image pair. The major problems we solved for are the segmentation of the 2-D features in each image. the correspondence problem between the matched features and the 3-D coordinates calculation.
