Abstract

The paper deals with the industrial application of knowledge based systems as a consequent result of computer aided methods of system theory. Such systems are well known since many years, but concrete industrial applications are more or less missing until now. On two particular realized applications some problems in developing and using of such systems are discussed. First the minimization of the tool changing and adjustment time of a continuous rolling line producing hollow steel sections is carried out by a knowledge based system called BERASYS and second an expert system for diagnosis in a robotized assembly cell is discussed.
