Abstract

This paper outlines some major problems in software process modelling. The first is the terminology and language problem: there is still no accepted consensus among the process modelling community about a common terminology or appropriate modelling languages. Next we present the type-instance problem: process models are usually given on a type level, whereas activities are carried out on an instance level. Then we point out reflexivity as an inherent problem, followed by a brief discussion of process model dynamics. Finally there is a strong lack of appropriate process standards.
