Abstract
Reasoning about intentions is an important area of research for the design of resource bounded rational agents who need to coordinate their actions with the actions of other agents in a multi-agent system. Closely related to intentions is the notion of an agent being committed to an intention. Commitments ensure that agents reason to achieve their intentions, however a commitment can also be dropped if it is considered irrational by the agent to continue acting for its associated intention. If commitments are to be taken seriously in AI we need to mediate this tension. We take a first step toward a solution by presenting a logical model for resource bounded agents who have to reason about their intentions whilst situated in an unpredictable environment.
