Abstract

Corbacho & Lee (1993) used a schema-based model of Anuran Detour Behavior to show how interacting schemas may analyze a complex environment to generate an appropriate course of behavior. However, having explicitly constructed the model on the basis of neuroethological data, we now turn to the question: how are such schema assemblages acquired. In particular, we address the issue of learning to detour to provide a case study in the evolution of adaptive behaviors. We consider the main sensory, motor and adaptive components of a prototype model for anuran detour behavior. To place the detour analysis in the more general context we introduce the more general framework of Schema Based Learning (SBL).
