Abstract
The dynamic knowledge structuring concept outlined in this paper contributes to the reusability of hetereogeneous lexical resources. I present a dynamic organization of lexical knowledge in a knowledge packet (KP) structure extended by local converters. A dynamic organization is an adequate mechanism to mediate between the diversity of already given and newly introduced lexical resources. Moreover this organization supports lexical import as well as lexical export. This paper presents the theoretical and practical tools which automate the structuring concept. The information of a lexical entry is distributed over hierarchically arranged KPs according to the invariances which exist between the lexical information of the resources under consideration. Such a structuring of lexical knowledge in a reusability scenario is dynamic in the sense that changes in already integrated lexicons and the consideration of new lexicons may require a reorganization of the lexical knowledge structuring and the KP structure. Therefore operations are needed which automatically carry out these changes. To get well-defined structure-reorganizing operations, the KP structures relevant to the presented reusability approach are analyzed by developing the graph-theoretical model of normalized level structures.
