Abstract

SYNERGY is an acronym for Systems Engineering System. The subject of this first in a series of papers is the design of a generic SYNERGY, deployable within any private or public organization, whose implementation will consist of people, computers and software. The inputs to SYNERGY shall be demands for systems to be designed, built, tested, deployed, operated and retired — and evolved. The inputted demands for systems come from any segment of society for any kind of system, in any functional or technological context, from a widget to be produced for mass consumption to the national health care delivery system. The systems engineering methodology to be employed in the design of SYNERGY is the same as the systems engineering methodology that SYNERGY will be designed to implement: model-based systems engineering which, in turn, is based on mathematical system theory. SYNERGY is an example of computer-aided system theory (CAST).
