Abstract
As the world is being rapidly connected by a global information network, distributed interactive multimedia services are attracting significant attention from various sectors of the world community. DAVIC (Digital Audio Visual Council), whose importance we acknowledge, was established in June 1994 to provide end-to-end interoperability of a wide range of audio visual services of applications across countries and applications/services.
This paper proposes our system architecture to implement DAVIC specification 1.1 [1] compliant audio visual services such as Video on Demand (VoD) and teleshopping, especially focusing on our approach to integrate WWW, JAVA and CORBA technologies for providing user-friendly and familiar navigation of services, yet, retaining the power of high quality realtime interactive multimedia services. Convergence with the Internet is raised as one of the most important recent issues in the DAVIC community.
