Abstract

Broadband testbeds have been deployed around the world since 1980s, and their successors, high performance research networks are being deployed in Asia- Pacific, Europe, and North America. These networks are forming the global high performance network through their interconnections. Various applications are being carried out using the network to carry on global research activities. Many meetings are being held to coordinate the interconnections and the applications.

This paper surveys the research networks around the world, and analyze on the interconnections and the funding aspect as well as various global collaborations to realize the global high performance research networks.
