Abstract

I have sketched the evolution of electronic consumer products.

The main observations are that they will contain more and more embedded software, that as a consequence they will evolve to architectured embedded systems, similar to computer products and that, due to Moore's law, they can stay in a consumer price range and thus become quite ubiquitous.

Furthermore that the traditional functional borderlines between products is changing and that, especially caused by digitalisation (multi-media) also the borderlines between traditional businesses are changing.
