Abstract

This chapter presents a portrait of the origins, development and present of Human-Computer Interaction and usability in Mexico. In order to create a better understanding of the country, a brief overview of its demography, economy and culture is outlined. As the development of HCI began in the academia, a summary of universities, laboratories and offered degrees including either HCI or usability studies are listed, along with important results and milestones. Finally, a sample of industrial projects and academic research are described in order to illustrate the actual state of HCI and usability in Mexico.
