Abstract
This paper develops a component model for entities that are comprised of markup language (HTML, XML) elements. This model will explain how these components can be constructed, nested to any level, laid out and rendered — all of these dynamically. The need for such components to accompany and extend Java Server Pages technology is discussed and exemplified. An object model for dynamic construction, nesting, layout management and rendering of these markup language components is presented, and a framework based upon certain design patterns is described.
