Abstract
In this paper we introduce a framework for supporting triggers in the context of deductive databases. The framework focusses on a precise definition of primitive and composite events, and of event occurrences. First we abstract from the actual representation of events, conditions and actions. Then we refine the framework in the context of deductive databases. In this context we also give a precise definition for the trigger processing. Finally we outline an architecture for implementing the framework1.
