Definition

neuroConstruct (http://www.neuroConstruct.org, Gleeson et al. 2007) is a software application designed to facilitate the creation of complex networks of biophysically detailed neurons in 3D through a graphical user interface. It automatically generates scripts for a number of popular neuronal simulators, allowing the modeler to concentrate on incorporating and analyzing the anatomical and physiological aspects of the model, rather than learning a simulator specific programming language.

Generation of 3D networks of cells:neuroConstruct was initially developed to allow generation of complex networks of anatomically detailed cells, to help understand the functioning of intricately connected microcircuits in brain regions such as the cerebellum and cerebral cortex .
