High Level Data Base Query Languages

Logic and Data Bases

Abstract

The paper presents a general framework for comparing high-level non-procedural query languages for the relational model of data. The principal language features are presented as modifications of operations in the first-order predicate calculus. These modifications suggest a classification of the retrieval operations of eleven existing relational
