Abstract
Sign language and lip reading are the two traditional methods that people without speaking and hearing capability use to communicate with others. But it is not effective every time since most of the general people do not understand sign language and understanding what other person is saying by reading their lips is a tricky thing. This project proposes a way of erasing these difficulties by introducing an electronic device using intelligent systems which will help to break the communication barrier between a disabled and a general person. The system consists of a sign language translator and a text generator. Sign language translator module have a gesture recognition system using hand globes device that translates the gesture signs to voice and the text generator system works by receiving voice and interpreting it into the readable text continuously and becomes visible. Hence, two-way communication is possible. By using this device, it can reduce the effort of communication of the deaf-mute community and help them to live their daily life more independently without some one’s assistance.
