Abstract
This paper examines the influence of accessibility on the location of manufacturing companies in Italy. Using available statistical data, it has been possible to calibrate linear regression models that relate the number of manufacturing companies on the territory, grouped in four classes (micro, small, medium, large), to several socio-economic and territorial factors, including a gravity-based accessibility index. The calibrated models were statistically significant and a sensitivity analysis showed that accessibility mainly affects the location of medium and large companies, while it has a lower impact on micro and small companies.
