Abstract

The aging of China’s population is on a rise trend. With the continuous growing of the elderly women market group, the variety of clothing demand is proposed, and less clothing is designed on the basis of elderly women’s own needs. The group of elderly women receives less attention, which leads to the mismatch between supply and demand. Therefore, the clothing design needs to make corresponding improvements. The subjects in this paper are mainly elderly women. Questionnaire survey and anthropometric survey were used to investigate their preference and comfort for clothes in daily life, which mainly analyzes the psychological needs and physiological needs of clothing in combination with the body shape characteristics of elderly women and compares them with the differences in the mean body shape of adult women. Different from the body shape of adult women, the vertical size of the body shape of elderly women, mainly in height, is decreasing, while the horizontal size, mainly in circumference, is increasing. Clothing design should focus on comfort, health, safety, dirt resistance and lightness from the perspective of elderly women.
