Abstract
The Spring Festival is a traditional festival in China, but there are distinctive regional festival customs across different places. This research intends to focus on auspicious and symbolic decorations for Spring Festival in Guangzhou and adopt bird-and-flower paintings as a means of decorating products, and aims to develop an array of cultural and creative products with regional characteristics based on contemporary daily needs of people through different craftsmanships, colors, expressions and artistic conceptions. This research hopes to stimulate and promote creative life and cultural memory in the new era, advance and enrich the Spring Festival culture in Guangzhou from varied dimensions, enhance people’s recognition of traditional festivals, and effectively fuel the economic development of cultural industry based on marrying traditional bird-and-flower paintings in Lingnan with handicraft and by integrating the techniques of graphic and product design.
