Abstract

This paper aims to explore how metal craft creators practices craft to create metalwork jewelry implanted through cultural connotation to finally achieve the communication between the creator and the viewer or wearer, based on the author’s personal experience in metalworking creation and by using the research method of constructing three stages of design process. In the example listed, the auspicious culture, as one part of Chinese profound culture, is transformed into the visual form of metalwork jewelry via the artistic language of metalwork creation, facilitating viewers to interpret the concept of the creator through creation, so as to maximize the reading validity of the viewers. Research results show that this research method can be applied in metalworking creation, and effectively help viewers to fully understand the connotation of works. This research provides an advanced way to explore the understanding of how connotation can be transformed into physical form, which is obviously worth studying. This research is divided into three stages. In the first stage, through literature review, by practicing communication cognitive theory and the method to extract situational stories, an evaluation criteria is established. In the second stage, a research framework is constructed to carry out the physical transformation of metalworking art language, and to explore the feasibility of research methods. By taking questionnaire analysis, feasibility of the evaluation method used in metalworking creation is examined and evaluated to check the effectiveness of this research method. In the third stage, relative suggestions are proposed for the reference of further researches.
