Abstract

Objective: A systematic review of effects of exercise, functional training, and sports games on the level of gross motor development in Chinese children aged 5–6 years old. Method: Develop a literature search strategy, search CNKI, Wanfang Database, Google Scholar and others, find randomized controlled trials that meet the inclusion criteria for quality evaluation and extract data, use RevMan 5.3 statistical software to perform meta-analysis, exercise outcome indicators between the intervention and control groups were evaluated using SMD. Result: Ten articles that contented the criteria were included in 669 cases. Compared with the control group, the three types of exercise interventions can significantly improve the children’s gross motor development [SMD = 11.54, 95% CI (7.27, 15.82), Z = 5.29, P < 0.01]. The subgroup analysis showed that functional training interventions had significantly better effects on the children’s gross motor development than the other two categories (P < 0.01). Conclusion: The exercise intervention methods used in the current research can effectively improve the level of gross motor development of children aged 5–6 year old in China. The intervention forms of functional movement training have the most significant effect than other forms.
