Barriers and Challenges to Smart Grid Technology Deployment in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA)

Abstract

Saudi Arabia is concentrating on its Vision 2030 strategy for long-term development and reliable electricity delivery. This research is critical in understanding the obstacles and hurdles to smart grid-SG technology deployment in Saudi Arabia. According to this report’s results, Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) will cope with nearly 68 to 85% of limitations and threats, almost 77% to 84%% of specifications, and almost 88% of technical benefits. SEC would improve network stability, energy efficiency, and cost optimization while having a low impact on the environment. This is a major contribution made by this report. This study’s conclusions can be generalized to other managed markets or economies concerned about or adopting smart grid technology.
