Abstract
Upper prosthesis adaption is an effective way for amputees to rebuild their self-care and occupation ability. However, traditional prosthesis adaption based on the physical environment may bring new damage in functional rehabilitation since amputees need to initially take care of their wounds while not focusing on prosthetic adaption. The computer-aided environment provided more freedoms in rehabilitation for researchers and amputees in the prosthesis adaptation. Our study presented a new rehabilitation system based on the virtual environment to fulfill the rehabilitation demand of amputation recovery. We invited three amputees and four professional researchers to design the computer-aided service in the different stages of recovery. After the group discussion, three main guidelines and seven main stakeholders were refined to construct the virtual rehabilitation system. Finally, we presented a new malleable service design based on group discussion and a computer-aided environment for amputees in prosthetic rehabilitation and tested it in a practical scenario. This work provided a new multidisciplinary interaction method to enhance amputee capabilities.
