Abstract
Ergotherapy or Occupational Therapy (OT) is a medical treatment that applies to all individuals suffering from physical, sensory, or cognitive problems and enables them to gradually recover well enough to perform their tasks and develop a sense of independence. The end-to-end development of the application described in this paper deals explicitly with Impairment-Oriented-Training based on AFT to assist individuals in recovering from sensorimotor injuries. Extensive research has been performed in user interface and user experience design. The application is intended to treat individuals with certain limitations and needs to be optimal for their physical improvements. Surveys conducted with therapists and patients have been crucial to identifying specific requirements to empathize with the users accommodated into the final product. The application consists of eight exercises focusing on the sensorimotor skills, which the therapists have provided. Multiple wireframes and prototypes were created that were repeatedly tested for optimization. Simplicity, convenience, and flexibility were the primary focus of the user experience. This led to the final UI development that fulfills its potential users’ demands. Lastly, it provides suggestions for further research and future work.
