Abstract
Smart things are pervasive in children’s life. However, children do not know how to create them. Chatbots for children can help them learn how to create their own smart things and reflect around them. This paper reviews current research in the area of chatbots for children with educational aims. It presents a preliminary contextual inquiry with children using the SNaP online game for creating simple smart things. It concludes with reflections on the results of the review and inquiry, in relation to challenges for the design of chatbots for guiding children to create and reflect around technology-driven solutions for them.
