Abstract
This paper reports on the use of formal techniques to ensure as far as possible a safe decommissioning of a plant several decades after it was designed and built. Combination of supervised learning, formal modelling, model animation and model checking enabled the recovery of an almost lost specification and the design of a virtual supervision system that could be checked against recorded plant data.
