Abstract
It is well known that correlation based watermarking schemes are vulnerable to attacks specifically designed for it. One such attack was proposed in Das et al. [11]. Subsequently, they also proposed a robust Modified Differential Energy Watermarking (MDEW) scheme in the same paper. However, we could show that so called robust schemes like MDEW, which is specifically designed to overcome those vulnerabilities is also not secure. In this paper we show that generic watermark removal attack on a correlation-based watermarking scheme may be extended to a general to forgery attack even if the watermark removal strategy is a weak one. We prove our case by mounting such an attack on MDEW.
