Abstract
Opportunism is a social behavior that achieves own gains at the expense of others. In this study, we propose a formal model of opportunism, which consists of the properties knowledge asymmetry, value opposition and intention, based on situation calculus.

Many papers in social science use information asymmetry to represent the situation where one party in a transaction knows more compared to another. We argue that once the information is stored in our mind and can be used appropriately it becomes our knowledge. For this reason, we would rather revise the term as knowledge asymmetry in this paper, which is also consistent with our technical framework.
