Abstract
This chapter introduces and gives an overview of the EC funded research project called Fish4Knowledge, which investigated ‘big-data’ issues arising from processing 87 thousand hours of video to detect and analyze 1.4 billion tropical coral reef fish. The chapter starts with a brief tour of the project, and then gives some of the background to the project and researchers.
