Abstract

The Fish4Knowledge project involves several data-intensive computing tasks. These tasks need to access a large volume of video data that have been acquired at several remote seaside locations in Taiwan, and which are stored in a data center in central Taiwan. It is important that such data can be processed efficiently and effectively. The outcome of the project depends in part on how well the data are managed. Managing data can be challenging particularly when studies involve several researchers and/or when studies are conducted from multiple locations. The strategy of data management depends on the types of data involved, how data are collected and stored, and how they are used—throughout the research lifecycle. This chapter describes the implementation and optimization of data resource management for the Fish4Knowledge project.
