Abstract
The paper describes a microscopic simulation of traffic flow phenomenon based on Cellular Automata and Multi-agent System. The simulation enables the study of the complexity of the traffic system and can provide current information about road capacity. A car is represented as a set of several neighboring cells, as an extension of Nagel-Shreckenberg model devoted for urban traffic simulation. The car is represented as an agent whose decisions are based on the actual situation on the road including neighboring cars decisions. The model also contains traffic lights and mechanisms such as right-of-way, route planning or lane changing which help to simulate more complex behavior of vehicles.
