Abstract

A new method of shipboard power system (SPS) reliability evaluation using the minimal cut set approach is developed. The method is dependent on the system network topology, as well as the component reliability parameters. Service interruption rate, indexed to quantify power system reliability, is calculated under normal condition and failure conditions. Under normal condition, the service interruption rate is used to indicate the reliability of each load zone. While under failure conditions where the interruption rate is calculated with conditional probability, the results are able to identify the importance of each element (cable) to specific load power supply.
