Abstract

Nowadays, whatever their domain of activity, the interest of the organizations for IT service management is growing. In that context, a certification of their service management system is seen as a good means to demonstrate their excellence in this discipline. Amongst all the existing process (assessment or maturity) models that could be used to support such a certification, two of them have been studied. This paper presents and compares the ISO/IEC 15504-8 and the TIPA for ITIL process assessment models, in order to determine their respective strengths and weaknesses when used for preparing an ISO/IEC 20000-1 certification.
