Abstract

Researchers are being challenged to show how their research is contributing to commercialization in the private sector, especially when they received public funding. At the same time, the private sector is challenged to further develop their business models so they reflect on the continuous innovation is all fields. For innovation to be successful, it is important to validate it with customers and so co-create the value. This paper increases the awareness of the paramount role that validation techniques play in research by providing recommendations to properly validate research efforts. A validation tool based on the co-creation of value with customers was proposed.
