Abstract

Over the last decades video vigilance systems have experienced a considerable growth in public and private environments. This is true due to the increasing need of keeping areas safe in order to serve visitors. This work presents the design of an automated vigilance system using facial recognition. The system runs a real time comparison of data gathered through high definition cameras and stored information off authorized personnel for an specific area. The system generates different types of alerts depending on the event occurring at the time of comparison. The system was developed using Matlab simulations using Simulink. The simulations shows how the facial recognition works when detecting a non authorized person and the alerts triggered when this type of event occurs.
