Zusammenfassung
Der vorliegende Beitrag beschreibt in einfachen Worten die konzeptuelle Relevanz komplexer Netwerke für die Kunst- und Geisteswissenschaften im Zeitalter explosionsartig wachsender Datenmengen. Dabei wird eine quantitative Perspektive aufgezeigt, die vom Standpunkt der traditionell-qualitativ fokussierten Ausbildung in den Kunstwissenschaften bedrohlich erscheinen mag, jedoch in erweiterter Sicht weitreichende Chancen bietet, sowohl bezüglich des möglichen Fortschritts im Fach selbst, als auch bezüglich einer multidisziplinären Einbindung auf dem Weg zu einer allgemeinen, evidenzbasierten qualitativ wie quantitativ ausgerichteten Wissenschaft der Daten, mit fließenden Übergängen zwischen Kunst-, Geistes, Sozial, und Naturwissenschaften.
