Abstract
Content development of indigenous collection for global access is spreading rapidly throughout the developed world. The tempo of development in the developing world, however, is not that encouraging. One of the reasons could be the gap of digital divide among the information professionals in terms of skills and knowledge in certain areas of the information and communication technology (ICT) is expanding due to the emergent technologies. As information professionals are responsible for the effective handling of digital libraries the level of ICT skills and knowledge possessed by these professionals are critical issues that need to be addressed by the digital libraries. This paper is aimed at identifying the current level of ICT skills and knowledge among the information professionals who are working in the academic and public libraries of Malaysia. Insight from the findings will indicate the extent of the gap of digital divide among the information professionals in Malaysia.
